On foot by the Pilgrims' Way

A marked route crosses the sands. The council's road times do not apply to it: walk it in daylight with someone who knows the route, never on a rising tide, and finish before the middle of the safe period. 3

Once you are there

On foot

The island is small. The village, priory, church and harbour are close together, and paths lead to the castle, the lime kilns and the dunes. 4

By bike

Visit Northumberland says cycling the causeway is popular, and that Good Times Bike Hire near Berwick hires e-bikes and pedal bikes. Check the tide times first. 4
