Plan from scratch

Trip builder

Answer six short questions and get a draft route: which regions, how many days in each, what to see each day, and where travel takes time. It is built in your browser from our guides. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Fields marked with an asterisk are needed. Without JavaScript all questions show on one page, and the answers go in the web address.

Who is traveling?
When and for how long?

Pace and getting around
Your budget preference

This is your own preference. We hold no prices, so it only ranks places to eat where our data has a price tier.

Or start from a ready-made route

Curated routes by trip length, each with travel between regions, who it suits and the best season.

How the draft is made

  • Regions come from your interests (places in our guides that match), the month (a score of 0 to 4 from average temperature, rain days and sunshine) and distance. Fewer regions for shorter trips and slower paces.
  • Travel time uses National Rail fastest journey times where we hold them: up to 2 hours takes no time out, up to 4 hours a half day, more than that a whole day. Where we hold no figure, a half day is reserved and you are sent to National Rail. By car we hold no driving times, only the straight-line distance.
  • Step-free and family marks are used only where our data has them. Where it does not, the place can still appear and the plan says the status is not known.
  • The same answers always give the same plan. Your answers stay in this browser and in the web address if you share it. Saving to My trip stores places in this browser only.
