What we collect
- No accounts and no stored profiles. The site is static. Nothing you do on the site is stored by us unless you send it to us through one of the forms or features below.
- Problem reports (optional): "Report a problem" opens a pre-filled message in your own email program. Nothing is sent until you send that email.
- No analytics: this site does not currently run any analytics or advertising service.
- AI trip concierge (optional): what you type is sent to our server function and an AI provider, and not stored by us (see AI trip concierge).
- Emails to us: we keep them to answer you.
Third-party requests from your browser
Your browser contacts these services directly when a feature needs them. Each one sees your IP address and normal request details, and some may set their own cookies. We do not receive that data. Fonts and the language-menu flags are served from this site.
| Service | Purpose | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare (our hosting and content delivery provider) | Delivering every page, script, image and data file of this site, and running our small server functions | IP address and normal browser request details (for example the page requested and browser type), in the provider's logs under its own policy |
| OpenStreetMap tile servers (tile.openstreetmap.org) | Map images (map page, walk maps) | IP address, the map area you view, and the address of our site as the referrer (the site name only, never the page you are on) |
| OpenStreetMap website (www.openstreetmap.org) | The small embedded map on area pages | IP address (we send no referrer); OpenStreetMap may set its own cookies |
| Transport for London (TfL Unified API) | Journey planning, live line status for the lines on your journeys, and nearby stations | IP address and the journey you enter (our own TfL application key is sent with the request, not one of yours); for Near me, your position rounded to about 100 m, only when you ask for nearby stations |
| postcodes.io | Postcode lookup and suggestions (journey planner, Near me) | IP address and the postcode you enter (in the journey planner, the first characters of a postcode as you type it) |
| OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Address search (journey planner, Near me) | IP address, the address you submit by pressing Enter or the Search button (nothing is sent while you type), and the address of our site as the referrer (the site name only) |
| Wikimedia Commons (upload.wikimedia.org) | Most photographs shown on the site | IP address (we send no referrer) |
| Venues' own websites | Some photographs are loaded directly from the venue's website | IP address (we send no referrer) |
| Our AI trip concierge function (on our host), which passes your request to Anthropic | Building a trip plan from your request | Pages check, at most every ten minutes, whether the concierge is available (a request with no personal content). If you use it: the messages you type, the page language and the places in the current plan; your IP address is used briefly for rate limiting. Details below |
Your location (Near me)
The Near me page asks your browser for your position only when you press the button. The position is used in your browser to sort places by distance. It is not sent to us and not saved on a server. If you allow it, the nearby-station lookup sends your position, rounded to about 100 m, to Transport for London (see the table above), and the result is kept in your browser for up to 30 minutes (see cookies and storage). You can instead choose a landmark or type a postcode, and you can withdraw permission at any time in your browser's site settings.
AI trip concierge
The concierge sends what you type to a server function we run. If it is switched on and you use it, your message (up to 600 characters, and up to six messages in one plan), the page language and the plan currently on screen (place identifiers only) are sent to our server function, which forwards them to an AI provider (Anthropic) to arrange places from our own guide into an itinerary. Your IP address is seen by our host and used briefly to limit abuse. To show whether the concierge is available, pages also ask the same function, at most every ten minutes per tab; that request carries no personal content.
- What we keep: nothing about your message on our server. We do not store your text, set cookies or create a profile. Our function logs only counts (for example how many plans were made, in which language and how long they took), never your text or IP address.
- In your browser: the chat window keeps your conversation in this tab's session storage for up to three hours so it survives moving between pages; "Start again" or closing the tab clears it (see cookies and storage).
- Feedback buttons: if you press thumbs up or down, we receive only that choice, an optional reason from a fixed list, the page language and the regions in the plan. No text is sent.
- What the provider does: it processes the request to produce a reply under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Please do not type personal information (names, contact details, health information). The concierge does not need it.
- Accuracy: plans are generated by AI from our own list of places and are checked by software, but opening times, prices, availability and access details are not live data. Check the venue before you go.
- Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running the feature you asked to use and keeping it secure.
Browser storage
Your My trip places, your "My needs" choices, the language of the last page you viewed (used only by the installed app) and short-lived caches of live data are kept in your browser. The full list of what is stored, and for how long, is on cookies and storage. To clear My trip, open My trip and remove items, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
How long we keep data
- Correspondence: only as long as needed to deal with it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict processing, withdraw consent, and request portability. Email [contact email]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
