Short answer: Less than in North America. Many restaurants add an optional service charge to the bill; if it is there, you do not need to add more. Tipping at the bar in a pub is not usual.
Do you tip in UK restaurants?
Tipping is not strongly expected. In many table-service restaurants a service charge is added to the bill and usually described as optional; if it has been added you do not need to tip on top, and you can ask for an optional charge to be removed. Where there is no service charge, leaving something for good service is common but never compulsory.[1]
Do you tip in pubs?
It is not normal to tip for drinks at the bar. Some people offer to buy the bar staff a drink instead, by saying 'and one for yourself' when paying. If the pub serves you a meal at the table, the serving staff may be tipped as in a restaurant.[1]

Do you tip taxi drivers in the UK?
Tipping is generally not expected in taxis, though many passengers round the fare up to a convenient amount.[1]
Do you tip in cafés and fast food places?
It is less usual in cafés and coffee shops, though there may be a tip jar at the counter. Tipping is not expected at all in fast food restaurants.[1]
