Welcome to the area

The Roman Baths, the Abbey and the Pump Room around the Abbey Churchyard

This is the historic core of Bath. The Roman Baths, Bath Abbey and the Pump Room stand side by side around the Abbey Churchyard, where the city's hot springs rise.

Thermae Bath Spa and the Cross Bath are a few minutes' walk away, and Parade Gardens, the river and the railway station are all close. Cafés, pubs and restaurants fill the lanes in between.

Insider tips

Before you go

1

Buy tickets from the official site

The Roman Baths warns visitors about a fraudulent site selling half-price tickets. Book on romanbaths.co.uk.

2

Check the spa's age rules

Thermae Bath Spa admits guests aged 16 and over and asks for proof of age on entry. Treatments are for guests aged 18 and over.

3

Leave the car outside

The center is compact on foot, and Bath has a Clean Air Zone. Visit Bath suggests using one of the three Park & Ride sites.

4

Look beyond the Churchyard

The busiest cafés sit right by the Abbey. Streets such as Abbey Green, North Parade Passage and Westgate Street have more places to eat.
