The Royal Armouries, the Minster, the Calls and the mills of Holbeck

The River Aire runs along the southern edge of the city centre. Leeds Bridge stands at the foot of Briggate and the Calls follow the north bank, with Leeds Minster and the First White Cloth Hall a short walk east, and the Royal Armouries Museum further downstream at Leeds Dock.

West of the station, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal begins at Granary Wharf beside the Dark Arches. Beyond it, Holbeck keeps the mills and works of the Industrial Revolution: Tower Works, Marshall's Mill, the Round Foundry and the Egyptian-style Temple Works.

Bons plans d'initiés

Avant de partir

1

Book the Armouries ticket

Entry to the Royal Armouries is free, but the museum asks visitors to book a ticket and suggests allowing two to three hours.

2

Walk between the sights

Granary Wharf, Leeds Bridge, the Calls, the Minster and Leeds Dock all lie along the river. The Royal Armouries gives its walk from the station as 20 to 25 minutes.

3

Holbeck is for looking

Temple Works, Marshall's Mill, Tower Works and the Round Foundry are historic buildings rather than museums, so plan to see them from the street.

4

Check the Minster's days

Leeds Minster lists its own visiting times and is closed to visitors on Mondays. Admission is free.
