Windermere是英格兰最大的湖泊，东岸的两个落脚点各有特色。Windermere村距湖水一英里多一点，设有火车站，从Oxenholme开来的支线在此终点。Bowness-on-Windermere位于下坡约一英里半处，那里有码头、Bowness Bay游客中心和湖上游船。
Bowness有World of Beatrix Potter景点，而展示船只的Windermere Jetty Museum和Arts and Crafts风格的住宅Blackwell都在不远处。三处均在室内，天气转坏时很方便。想看风景，可从Windermere村出发，短途攀登至Orrest Head；国家公园管理局还列出了从Bowness通往Cockshott Point和Brockhole、无台阶的湖岸步道。

Bowness位于Windermere村及其火车站下坡一英里半处，因此可以步行下去，再乘巴士或船返回。

National Park Authority列出了从Bowness到Cockshott Point（2 km）以及Brockhole（1.5 km）的Miles without Stiles路线，适合轮椅、婴儿车和行动不便者。

乘渡轮前往 Hawkshead
Windermere Ferry连接Ferry Nab与Far Sawrey，是前往Hawkshead和Grizedale的捷径。运行时间请向地方议会查询。
