Where to stay

When rooms are hard to find: a calendar

The months when big events and holidays push up demand for rooms, and the quieter months when booking is usually easier, from official pages.

Facts last checked Nov 1, 2026. Britlens is independent: see our editorial policy.

This calendar puts the dated events from our book-ahead list (each tied to its official page) next to the UK’s bank holidays,[2] which travel guides say make transport busier and tend to raise prices.[3] VisitBritain says booking off-peak is likely to be cheapest, and names November, January (apart from New Year), February and March as quieter months.[1] We hold no price data, so we do not say by how much.
