Holidays and busy periods
Bank holidays (public holidays) for Scotland come from GOV.UK, listed for the next two years in each month above. Many Britons travel on bank holiday weekends, so book transport and rooms early.
School vacations are set by each local council, so we do not list dates here. Check Scottish school term and holiday dates (mygov.scot).

The castle, the monument and the Loch Katrine cruises are open through the year, but some smaller attractions close in winter. Check each attraction's own site for hours.
- Spring to autumn (March to October): The Hamilton Toy Museum in Callander opens from Easter to the end of October, and Wikipedia gives March to October for the Bannockburn Visitor Centre's daily opening.
- Summer (June to August): Long days for Ben A'an, the Bracklinn Falls and the Callander Crags. Loch Katrine Cruises adds two daily departures from Stronachlachar in the summer months.
- Winter (November to February): Short days, but Loch Katrine Cruises sails daily all year and the castle and Old Town are compact enough to see in daylight.
We do not publish crowd or price seasonality: none of the sources used for this page states it.
