Brodick, Lamlash and Whiting Bay: Brodick Castle in its gardens above Brodick Bay

A mini guide to

Brodick, Lamlash and Whiting Bay

Brodick Castle, Goat Fell, Holy Isle and the falls above Whiting Bay

Welcome to the area

Brodick Castle, Goat Fell, Holy Isle and the falls above Whiting Bay

Brodick is where the ferry from Ardrossan arrives, 55 minutes from the mainland. Just north of the village are Brodick Castle, a former seat of the Dukes of Hamilton now looked after by the National Trust for Scotland, and the start of the path up Goat Fell, at 874 m the island's highest point. The Isle of Arran Heritage Museum, founded in 1976, is on the main road in Brodick.

South along the coast, Lamlash faces Holy Isle across its bay. Whiting Bay has the walk of about 4 km up Glenashdale to the falls, passing the Neolithic Giants' Graves. Further south are the ruins of Kildonan Castle and, inland, Carn Ban, which Historic Scotland calls the only largely undisturbed chambered cairn on Arran.
