Lace warehouses, courtrooms and caves, and Hockley's bars and independent shops

The Lace Market was once the centre of the world's lace industry, a quarter-mile square of showrooms and warehouses that is now a conservation area. High Pavement holds St Mary's, the oldest parish church in Nottingham, and the National Justice Museum in the old Shire Hall and gaol; Nottingham Contemporary stands on the site of a Saxon fort.

Hockley, next door, keeps many Victorian buildings and is full of bars, restaurants and clothes shops, with Broadway cinema in the Creative Quarter. Further east, Sneinton has Green's Windmill, a working tower mill with a science centre.
