Is it operating?

Sumburgh Airport serves Shetland and is run by HIAL, whose page we read on 1 November 2026; it mentioned car park charges. Wikipedia places it at the southern tip of Shetland’s Mainland, 25 miles by road from Lerwick.1,2

Into the city centre

  • Flights from Sumburgh. Operator: Loganair. Loganair is the airline Wikipedia lists for Sumburgh’s scheduled flights; the airline tables of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Kirkwall and Manchester airports each list Loganair flights to Sumburgh (read 1 November 2026). Check Loganair for the current timetable.2,3,4,5 Official page for Flights from Sumburgh (opens in new tab)
  • Into Lerwick. Operator: Local bus and taxi. Wikipedia mentions a local bus link to Lerwick but marks it as needing a citation, so we give no route or times: check Traveline Scotland or ask your accommodation. Car hire on Shetland should be booked ahead.2 Official page for Into Lerwick (opens in new tab)
