Newcastle International Airport: getting into the city

Ways to reach Newcastle upon Tyne from the airport, with times only where the airport or an operator publishes them, plus assistance and the official site.

Facts last checked 25 Oct 2026. Britlens is independent: see our editorial policy.

We could not read this airport's website. It refused automated access, so the details below come from the operators named and from Wikipedia, and we quote no times from them. Check the official site (opens in new tab) before you travel.

Is it operating?

The airport's website refused automated access, so we have not read it. Wikipedia lists several airlines operating regular scheduled services.1

Into the city centre

  • Metro. Wikipedia says the airport's Metro station links it to Newcastle city centre via the Tyne and Wear Metro. The Metro's own page lists an "Airport" station and states no journey time, so check the Metro for times.1,2 Official page for Metro (opens in new tab)

For fares and city passes, see local transport. For live disruption, use the travel status links.

Assistance and accessibility

We could not read the airport's assistance pages. The Metro says it is committed to making travel accessible and links to a separate accessibility page.2
