A mini guide to
Two southern villages with parks, riverside walks and plenty of places to eat
1 / 6Welcome to the area
Chorlton and Didsbury are suburbs on the north bank of the River Mersey, about three and five miles south of the city centre. Each grew from an older village, and each keeps a village centre: Chorlton Green and Beech Road in Chorlton, and the Wilmslow Road stretch in Didsbury. West Didsbury's Burton Road sits between them.
They suit a slower day than the city centre. Fletcher Moss Botanical Garden, the Mersey paths and Chorlton Water Park are all close, and both villages have a dense choice of cafés, bars and restaurants. The Metrolink tram links the two with the city centre.
