Holidays and busy periods
Bank holidays for England come from GOV.UK, listed for the next two years in each month above. Many Britons travel on bank holiday weekends, so book transport and rooms early.
School holidays are set by each local council, so we do not list dates here. Check School term and holiday dates (GOV.UK).
From our Liverpool guide
Liverpool works all year. Museums, theatres and concert halls help on wet days, and the waterfront is open to the weather in any season.
- Spring (March to May): A good time for the waterfront, Stanley Park and Sefton Park before the summer crowds.
- Summer (June to August): The best weather for the Albert Dock, Otterspool Promenade and Crosby Beach. Book popular restaurants ahead.
- Autumn (September to November): Quieter streets, and a busy programme at the Philharmonic Hall, the theatres and the music venues.
- Winter (December to February): Short days, but the museums, galleries and cathedrals are indoors. Check each site for opening times.
We do not publish crowd or price seasonality: none of the sources used for this page states it.
