Holidays and busy periods
Bank holidays for England come from GOV.UK, listed for the next two years in each month above. Many Britons travel on bank holiday weekends, so book transport and rooms early.
School holidays are set by each local council, so we do not list dates here. Check School term and holiday dates (GOV.UK).
From our Bath guide
Bath works all year. Summer and holiday periods are busiest around the Abbey and the Roman Baths.
- Spring (March to May): Gardens and parks such as Parade Gardens and Prior Park start to bloom, with fewer crowds than summer.
- Summer (June to August): Long days for walks on the Skyline and along the canal. Book rooms and popular attractions ahead.
- Autumn (September to November): Good light on the stone terraces and quieter streets once the summer holidays end.
- Winter (December to February): Short days, but the spa pool, museums and cosy pubs come into their own.
We do not publish crowd or price seasonality: none of the sources used for this page states it.
