The route
The promenade at Crosby runs beside the beach where Antony Gormley's Another Place figures stand. Sefton Council says it is generally safe to walk the beach if you stay close to the promenade, and asks you not to walk out to the furthest statues. Check tide times before you set off, because high tides cover the figures and the beach.

Step-free and pushchair access
The official page does not say whether this route is step-free or suitable for pushchairs, so we do not either. Check the official page (opens in new tab) or ask the site.
Safety
- Crosby is not a bathing beach: it has soft sand, mud and changing tides. Stay out of the sea and within 50 metres of the promenade at all tides. The beach is permanently red flagged. Sefton Council: Crosby Beach (opens in new tab)
- Do not walk out to the furthest statues, where the council says there are areas of very soft sand and mud. Follow warning signs and instructions from lifeguards, coastguards and rangers. Sefton Council: Another Place general information (opens in new tab)
Seasonal access
- At a tide of around 9 to 10 metres the figures are submerged for about an hour either side of high tide and beach access is not possible; at 4.0 metres or lower all are visible. Check tide times before you go. Sefton Council: Another Place general information (opens in new tab)
- RNLI lifeguards patrol Crosby all year, 365 days, but there is no patrolled bathing area; they give advice and assistance. Sefton Council: Crosby Beach (opens in new tab)
How these figures were worked out
- Distance: route length measured from OpenStreetMap geometry. The official page gives no distance. It is a straight-segment sum along mapped paths, so it can differ from a waymarked figure.
- Grade: our rule, because the official page gives no grade. Easy: up to 8 km and up to 150 m of ascent. Hard: over 16 km or over 600 m of ascent. Moderate: everything else. No ascent figure is available for this walk, so the rule used distance only and the real grade may be higher.
- Time: only shown when an official page states it.
