Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2027

The Fringe's 80th edition takes over Edinburgh for most of August 2027. Beds are the hardest thing to find, so start with the dates and work back.

Facts checked 1 November 2026 against the sources listed at the end. Britlens is independent: see our editorial policy.

Planning a Fringe trip

  1. Fix your dates, then book somewhere to stay as early as you can. Our Edinburgh guide lists areas to stay; Leith and Haymarket are outside the Old Town but well connected.
  2. Book the shows you most want once the programme is out, and leave gaps for things you find on the day.
  3. Plan rail travel early: see rail tickets and Edinburgh and York by rail.
  4. The Old Town is steep and cobbled: see accessible travel if you need step-free routes.

Waar te beginnen

Shows happen all over the city. The Royal Mile and the Old Town are the busiest part, with the castle at the top. The city's permanent theatres, including the Festival Theatre, are listed on our Edinburgh theatres pages.
